🏆 TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE & EVENTS
Event 1: SMS DEEN Merdeka Open Rapid Team Championship (Aug 28 & 29). Limited to the first 50 paid teams, time control is 20 mins + 5 seconds.
Event 2: Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Merdeka Junior (Under-12) Team Championship (Aug 28 & 29). Limited to the first 50 paid teams, time control is 20 mins + 5 seconds.
Event 3: Merdeka Blitz Chess Championship (Aug 29). 7-9 Rounds Swiss, time control is 3 min + 2 seconds increment.
Event 4: Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Age-Group Championship (Aug 30). Categories include Under 06, 08, 10, 12, 14, and 16, with a time control of 20 mins + 5 seconds increment.
Event 5: 21st Dato Arthur Tan Merdeka Open Championship (Aug 31 – Sep 6). A 9-Round FIDE rated individual tournament, time control is 90 mins + 30 seconds increment.
Event 6: Daniel Yong Chen-I Memorial Merdeka Chess Challenge (Aug 31 – Sep 6). A 9-Round FIDE rated event strictly for players rated below FIDE 2000.
Event 7: Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Seniors’ Open Championship (Aug 31 – Sep 6). Open to players 50 years and above (women 45 years and above).
Event 8: Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Merdeka Day Age Group (Sep 3). Open and Age Groups (Under 8, 10, 12, 14 & 18) with a 15 mins + 5 seconds time control.
Event 9: Festival Blitz Chess Championship (Sep 6). 7-9 Rounds Swiss, time control is 3 min + 2 seconds increment.
⚠️ ESSENTIAL REGISTRATION INFO
Closing Date: 21st August 2026 by 12:00 PM. Entries submitted after this date will incur a late surcharge or be charged double, and walk-ins are subject to organizer discretion.
Early Bird Discount: A 10% discount is available ONLY for Events 5, 6, & 7 for paid entries submitted before 1st August 2026.
FIDE ID Requirement: Players without a FIDE ID number will not be accepted into the tournaments.
💳 Payment Details: Bank transfers should be made to DAT Chess Centre via Maybank Current A/C No: 5145 9822 0396 (SWIFT: MBBEMYKL).
⚠️ Once registered, no refunds will be made.
Accommodation: All players must budget for their own board, lodging, and transportation needs. Room rates at the designated hotel are US $65 per room per day.
