Event Details

• Event Name: Dato Tan Chin Nam Foundation Malaysia Day Age Group (Open, Under 8, 10, 12, 14 & 18).
• Dates: This event will take place on September 16th, 2025 (Tuesday). This date coincides with Malaysia Day.
• Venue: All events of the 20th Malaysian Chess Festival, including this championship, will be held at the KL Gateway Mall, Lot L3.01 & 02, 2, Jalan Kerinchi, Kampung Kerinchi, 59200 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan. It is easily accessible via the LRT Kelana Jaya Line (KJ19) at KL Gateway-Universiti station.
• Organizer: The event is organized by the DAT Chess Centre (DATCC).
• Description/Target Audience: This is a Rapid Age Group Championship open to various categories: Open, Under 8, 10, 12, 14, and 18. This competition is highlighted as important for nurturing young players. Due to space constraints, only the first 200 entries will be accepted.
• Format:
  • Rounds: 6 or 7 rounds (depending on response).
  • Time Control: 15 minutes per game + 5 seconds increment per move.
• Schedule: The event runs from 12:00 – 18:00 on September 16th (Tuesday).
• Entry Fees (in RM):
  • Open Section: RM 70.
  • Age Group Section: RM 60.
  • Closing Date: Tournament entry fees must be paid before the closing date on September 1st, 2025.
  • Late Registration: Entries submitted after the closing date or walk-in entries will be charged double the fee.
  • No Refunds: Once registered and paid, no refunds will be issued.
• General Rules & Conditions:
  • All mobile phones and electronic devices are strictly banned from the tournament hall.
  • All officials and players are expected to be smartly attired in the playing hall.
  • The Organizer reserves the right to reject any entry.
  • Only the first 200 players will be accepted for this event.
